JÓSE LUIS GARCÍA VEGARA

José Luis García Vegara studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Tess Miller and Celia Nicklin.

 

In 2007 he graduated with First Class Honours and received the Principle‘s Prize. He was subsequently a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, where he completed his studies with Jonathan Kelly. José Luis García Vegara has performed as principal oboist with renowned orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He has also played with ensembles such as Les Dissonances, Ensemble Mediterrain and Ensemble Resonanz and has taught at master classes in Japan, Spain and Argentina. Since 2008 José Luis García Vegara has been principal oboist of the hr-Sinfonieorchester and tutor at the hr-Sinfonieorchester Orchestra Academy. In addition, he has been principal oboist of the Estonian Festival Orchestra conducted by Paavo Järvi since 2017 and a lecturer at the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Seville since 2020. In 2021, he accepted an invitation for the first time as principal oboist of the Festival Orchestra at the Bayreuth Festival.
